7Stanes Accommodation

B&B for cyclists in innerleithen Tweed Valley Tourism
B&B accommodation, minutes from Glentress and Innerleithen

As keen mountain bikers and road cyclists we have set up a couple of comfortable, modern, rooms to offer the sort of accommodation we would like to find when we are on either and adventure holiday or short break.
We are now taking bookings for b&b accommodation at our house in Innerleithen. We offer ensuite guest accommodation and great mountain bike facilities just minutes ride from the 7Stanes trails at Innerleithen and Glentress. We took our inspiration from the welcoming feel of ski chalets in the Alps and the auberges of North Africa.
Details of bed and breakfast rates in our rooms page.
Please email us with any questions.

Cycle Services

We are SMBLA and OTC qualified guides and leaders.
Equally at home on road or mountain Chris has competed for several years at everything from national level duathlon to 24hr mountain bike races and is still polishing his 1st place trophy from the National Single Speed (MTB) Championships.
Jane has represented Great Britain in duathlon, won medals at the nationals and loves to ride the local MTB trials around Innerleithen and Glentress. Contact us if you would like to benefit from professional leading or our local knowledge. We have found a growing demand for novice cycle lessons and now run a First Gear weekend course for absolute beginners. If you're a guest at our B and B we've got tons of free local knowledge for you and we'd love to hear about your adventures.

Endura - Stramash

September 19/20th- The Endura Stramash. Organised by Iain Withers of MB7 and Detail Events who bring the Deerstalker to the valley each year, Stramash is a celebration of extreme mountain biking at Glentress Forest, Stramash aims to become the signature biking event for the Tweed Valley and build annually into an international size event. The event has attracted good sponsorship and some of the best UK bikers so far and entry is now open for both the Monster Slopestyle and Enduro. To enter or to get the full information on this innovative new event, go to www.stramash.com.

Winter Trip '09

This year has been eventful for us with the birth of our fist wee cyclist, Katie, and a busy year in terms of bookings. After a winter at home learning about nappies and formula we are more than ready to stretch our legs again on the open road. For 3 weeks this winter we will be taking Katie on her first ever cycle tour, back to familiar ground for us - Morocco. The flights are booked, the bike trailer is getting regular testing and the maps are out. You can read about our progress with the trip and planning at bolg.bordercycling.co.uk.

Going South

The last time we saw Andrew "Fin" Finlay was as we took him on a recovery ride around Glentress after a massive knee opp. Fin is now cycling trhough the Americas with one team mate, they and another team will be cycling thousands of miles and will lead us into the unknown. Covering both North and South America (Alaska-Panama, Colombia-Argentina), they will record their journeys. Meeting different kinds of people in diverse environments and looking for answers to today's vital questions. Unsustainable practices have a direct effect on people and animals. What are these effects? Find out how the teams get on at http://www.going-south.tv/team-north-america .

Edinburgh to Paris by Bicycle

700 miles over 4 days. All for a couple of beers and a belief in a better world. Why not?. Danny took on (and completed) an epic task after a bet in a pub, you can read all about his progress as he prepared for his 4 day ride on edinburghtoparis.blogspot.com.

More Power

Oh how dumb are we? For just under a year we've been running our bike wash with the mains tap half closed! From now on all our B&B guests can enjoy a dirt busting bike wash when they come back from a muddy day at Glentress or Innerleithen.

Bring It On!

With the uplift days well under way at Inners and the snow finally gone today was the first day we've managed to venture out and about in Innerleithen in just baggies and tees. Our B&B bookings for the summer are looking pretty healthy, we've the British National DH and XC Champs to thank for that as well as the Mighty DeerStalker (which I keep calling Deer Hunter!) at Traquair and loads of other great local events. If you are booking with us for guiding or tuition please check out our calendar page as Chris has quite a few weekends already booked up with his work at Scottish Cycling.

Visit Tweed Valley

Border Cycling is pleased to be a part of the Tweed Valley Tourist Consortium. Please check out their pages for Guest Houses, Bunk Houses, Bed and Breakfasts or self catering accommodation. I'm sure you'd still rather stay here but there are lots of other quality options in the valley.

Accommodation Innerleithen

New Team Member

We've picked up a new member to the border cycling team, Katie Bryant was born on the 7th of November and is busy keeping us awake all night. Good training for the Mountain Mayhem! Anyway, whilst the three of us settle down we won't be taking any bookings for bed and breakfast. We'll be back on track next spring and we hope to see you all then. Guiding and training is still available.

Our National Champion

In true Team Idol fashion Chris won the Single Speed National Championships.
A 12 hour Dawn Raid was held at Golspie near Inverness. One week after the longest day of the year 200 riders set off at 8.00pm for the summit of Ben Bhraggie on the longest singletrack climb in the country. By 8.20am the following morning and after 13 laps of the hilly red and black graded Wildcat trails Chris pulled his On-One Inbred over the finish line to walk away as National Single Speed Champion.

Dirty Weekend?

Border Cycling gains another top ten finish, this time at the 12km trail run around Traquair
Not having run for a year it was a nice change for Chris to have to fill in for Trevor on the start line of the Dirty Dozen. This was all part of the Dirty Weekend, the first ever festival of adventure racing to be held in Scotland. A Polaris MTB event over the Saturday and Sunday, a full blown adventure race and the 12km run were all based at Traquair and used our local hills and valleys to great effect. More details on the Dirty Weekend website.

Blog

We've been out cycling round Pakistan, Tibet and Nepal
Have a look at what 4 months away did to us. Details of our new bed and breakfast accommodation and cycle guiding will follow. Our bicycle blog has accounts of our full unsupported cycle trip from Islamabad to Lhasa and photos of the amzing people and places we saw along the way

Border Cycling Wins Gold

Well actually just a few bottles of wine.
Our "Team Idol" scoops first at the Upton Triathlon. Our attempt to swim, bike and run our way to success paid off adding a happy gold to this years medal haul.

Borders Events(2006)

As well as the corner Stanes of border cycling this year the borders hosted two great weekends of cycling that saw thousands of enduro cyclists out on our hills, lets just say one event had the lions share of the atendees. The Selkirk Merida and the Scottish Borders Cycling Festival at Hawick. The Tour of Britain also passed through. Lets hope this proves to be an anual trio of events to build upon.

Bed and Breakfast

Have a look at our accommodation pages, we now offer great b and b service for mountain bikers and roadies alike, we have some fantastic cycle touring around here and we offer the perfect place to unwind after either a day on the Border roads, hills or on the 7stanes courses at Glentress and Innerleithen.

Team Idol '05

After 10 years away from racing Team Idol re-grouped to take on the Strathpuffer 24, possibly the greatest test of MTB endurance the U.K has ever seen. Team Idol was formed back in our school days with an ethos based on fun before results, now as grown-ups the ideals remains the same - as do our results. Racing as a pair Chris and Trevor were retired early when a rock punctured Chris' knee cap at 2.00am

Morocco '05/06

Photos from the trip now online. Go to the Pics page for images.

Guiding (archive)

Specialist Guided trips are planned for the near future - from routes around the 7 Stanes and the Scottish Borders to our epic annual trips abroad please contact us if you are interested in professional guiding. We have SMBLA and OTC accredited trainers and can show riders of all abilities new and interseting routes around the Scottish Borders or to any of the fantastic 7Stanes venues next to our location in Innerleithen

Training

More and more people are returning to cycling. A lack of practice can make some more cautious about riding on the road but with training to the National Standards we can let you get the most from your bike. We can tailor training to either road or hill and can work to your specific needs or ability levels.
