We offer professional mountain bike guiding and trail leading as OTC certified and SMBLA qualified guides and instructors.
We're based right next to Innerleithen and Glentress so we have hours of great man made and natural trails just minutes from our door, we ride them every day so we know our way round.
We also offer road guiding and cycle training to the new National Standard and can happily take groups of up to six adults or children out at any one time. Check if we have a day free that suits your schedule on our calendar. You can also learn bike basics and the essentials of planning a cycle touring expedition. Read on for details of our indoor classes.
Guiding:
Whether you want a great day cycling the vast network of local trails with the winner of the national singlespeed championships or to get the most from your visit to Glentress we can ensure that you do.
As qualified and experienced leaders we can take individuals or groups out on the trails with the confidence and knowledge to guide you safely.
We are happy to teach core skills and techniques out on the trail, helping you to ride better, faster and for longer.
Either of us can lead your group depending whether you prefer a male or female guide*.
Half days are charged at £40 per person (and £15 per additional person). Rates are negotiable for groups of five or more. We also offer massive savings for our B and B guests, who can benefit from a half price deal on all guiding.
We have the 7Stanes facilities here at Innerleithen and Glentress is just a few minutes away - Did I mention the endless miles of natural track even closer to our door!
Family group guiding is somewhat of a speciality for us, if your family are at various skill levels it can be hard work for you. Let us look after the group dynamics.
Perhaps you want to ride red, your daughter might want to ride a black or a blue route. We can point the more capable rider off into the sunset and bring the rest of the family around shortcuts to meet them or whatever is needed to ensure everybody has fun.
We now offer expedition planning clinics. If you are planning a trip and need to know what to expect or what to pack than contact us to arrange a day of training, see our indoor days section for details.
Luckily for us Jane is pregnant so won't be able to run courses until the new year!
Why hire a pro guide?
As professional guides we are trained to help you get the best from your day out, either with handy tips to improve your bike skills or by sharing our local knowledge with you. We carry the gear to deal with mechanicals or a more serious emergency, we are Rescue and Emergency Care first aid trained. The SMBLA award is the only guiding qualification with backing from Scottish Cycling (British Cycling).

If you are a guest staying with us we can provide detailed route suggestions for Innerleithen and the Borders area - from fun family rides to 'black routesque' recommendations. A sample route can be found on our Routes page.
We also offer Special rates for our bed and breakfast customers.
Out of the Scottish tourist season we travel the world to make the contacts you need for the best in global riding. You can read about some of our recent exploits on our blog. If you would like to be guided or take advantage of the knowledge gained in our trips please contact us .

Training:
The National Standard is geared towards getting adults and children on their bikes and on the road, either for the first time, for travel, for fun or fitness. As a replacement of the old cycling proficiency test the new National Standard has more focus on real life skills and gives opportunities to practice on the open road. We can train you in situations you are likely to face in the real world by travelling to your chosen location or at a centre of our recommendation such as Glentress or the streets of Peebles which offer a quiet introduction to road riding.A quote for the cost of overall training can be given after an initial telephone or email assessment. An average one and a half hour session costs £25 per person (and £10 per additional person). It may take two or three sessions for each level to be achieved though some times we can whizz through the basic levels in a single session! Day courses available by request.
Indoor Days
We run indoor training workshops from our base in Innerleithen, we can teach small groups of up to 6 the basics of bike maintenance and expedition planning. Dates can be tailored to your needs and the daily fee of £60 includes lunch and copious cakes and teas or coffees.
Use our contact page or call Chris or Jane on 01896 831 399 for more info.
Special Deals for B&B guests
If you are a guest staying with us in our B&B we will take 50% from our guiding costs. So you can have pro guiding from just £20 for a half days guiding.
