Who we are:
Border Cycling is run by Chris and Jane Bryant. Between us we have worked in most aspects of the bike trade and covered half the globe in cycle tyre tracks. As well as being British Cycling Coach, a qualified National Standards instructor and mountain bike guide Chris won the national singlespeed championships in 2008 but narrowly missed out in 2009. Chris spends the middle of the week organising British Cycling coaching courses for Scottish Cycling and looking after the mountain bike leader scheme.
Jane has previously represented the U.K in duathlon and we’ve both raced at various national level races. We've won some and lost some, Chris has even got lost on some. We’re definitely all round bike enthusiasts and not just into competing.
Jane has spent a lot of her time out of the U.K and knows pretty much the best places to cycle in Europe, New Zealand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, Tibet, Burma, Western China… the list goes on! We’re always happy to chat about our trips, we've lots of tips and advice to pass on or for detailed instruction we offer expedition planning courses.
The arrival of our daughter Katie adds a new dimension to our future bicycle adventures and we look forward to her first overseas cycle tour early in 2010.Having endured the regular journey up the M6 to the 7Stanes for several years whilst living in the Midlands we now want to provide comfortable sport focussed accommodation and support for like minded people amidst the heart of the 7 Stanes.
We have drawn our inspiration from some of the best places we’ve stayed around the world and we try to keep an informal but inclusive feel like you would find in a alpine ski chalet or Moroccan auberge. We hope you will be able to join our family for somewhere friendly to stay whilst you enjoy some of Britain's best cycling or perhaps take advantage of our professional guiding either on back country trails, Glentress or Innerleithen or take beginner lessons with our tuition services. You may just want to use us as a place to crash and unwind after a hard day in the saddle, you might even come without a bike, whichever way a warm welcome awaits.
You can read about some of our recent exploits on our blog.
